Finally Funimation has caught up where I left off on my Anime Quick Hits with Ookami-San and Shukufuku no Campanella. I know many other sites have already discussed these episodes, but I am sure most have acquired them through unlicensed channels. Anyway, I can finally bring you my thoughts on the episodes that aired from week 6. The will appear as supplements to the actual weeks that they aired.

    Ookami-San (Episode 6):

We begin this episode with Ryoushi worried about Ryouko and her past with Shirou. He asks Ringo to share the details form their past, but she insists that Ryouko is to be the one to tell him. We then see Ringo reminiscing about how she came to meet Ryouko. Ringo had to deliver school work to Ryouko due to her being ill. When she got to the dorm, she found Ryouko sick in bed, and crying in her sleep. She ended up taking care of her and they quickly became friends, even if Ryouko tried to resist. We then see Ryouko looking back on their friendship as well. We see how Ringo found out the details of Ryouko’s past, but not the details themselves. Finally we see Ryoushi meeting up with Ryouko outside the gym and once again confessing his love to her, which she reacts to in typical Tsundere form.

I really liked this episode, as we got to see the past between Ringo and Ryouko fleshed out. I always felt through the first five episodes that the main characters weren’t given the development they needed, so now that we are seeing that, it is easier to connect with them as a viewer.

    Shukufuku no Campanella (Episode 6):

The focus on this episode is Chelsea. We start off by seeing her training with fellow knights, and we get to see the great skills that she has. When her training is done, we find out that the Knights are having a ball in their honor, and that they are looking to enlist the help of Oasis to guard the treasures. We are treated to the four girls getting ready by choosing their outfits. Chelsea is very shy and unsure about the dress, as she is used to always being in her Knight outfit. On the night of the party we finally see all the girls decked out, and I must say they looked stunning. The party becomes under attack by a Crystal Monster, with lightning speed and temporary invisibility. As the girls attempt to fight off the monster without avail, Leicester shows up and realizes it attacks the objects giving off light. Using a Crystal Lamp, he manages to snag the monster, which Chelsea then disposes of. After the fight, we see Leicester carrying a drunk Chelsea home, and putting her into bed.

This show is just fun to watch, and the characters continue to be very cute and likable. I also like how the show does fan-service right, without it coming off as offensive. It was also nice to see the more delicate side of Chelsea, and her snagging her place as another girl in love with Leicester.
