After taking a week off for Thanksgiving, Scott and I are back and well rested. I discuss my brand new car, and my final thoughts on Saints Row 3. Scott praises the new Muppet movie and curses the confusing process of shopping for a new mattress.
In news we discuss Bandai’s Online Store shutting down, Aniplex of America’s Fate/Zero Blu-Ray Box Set plans, Miyazaki’s upcoming work not being for everyone, Discotek adding Panda go Panda, Restrictions lifted on a Maine man arrested for hentai featuring underage youth, Sentai Filmworks licenses Grave of the Fireflies, and CrunchyRoll is around 70,00 paid subscribers.
Our final discussion is influenced by the recent decision of Ed Sizemore to bid farewell to reviews. Scott and I discuss the reasons for why we write reviews, what drives us to keep blogging, and our own concerns when it comes to providing content.

I totally understand where you’re coming from about the blogging. I honestly don’t know how some critics can enjoy the movies they watch when they have to totally pick them apart. I would only want to write about my personal opinion on how I liked/disliked something rather than trying to find some hidden meaning or analyzing it. And honestly, I think you were just killing yourself writing all those episodic reviews lol. The first and last impressions are totally fine! It gives me an idea of what to expect with the show and whether or not I might like to watch it. The only thing I’ve missed is seeing the post of upcoming anime for the season because I’d use it to see what’s new coming out.
Also, I am blown away that you actually found something to be too expensive, lol. I thought I was cheap
. But seriously though, the price for that box set is outrageous!
I have to agree with Zen. Bloggers really shouldn’t have to over-think minor details or hidden meanings, as a reader I wouldn’t even be interested in that sort of thing. After all its there to entertain.
Speaking of inconsistent ratings, I’ve seen some websites give the new Mario kart for 3DS a 5/10 for not changing anything, yet MW3 scores a 9 and above and its just a re-skinned version of MW2. YOU CAN’T EXPLAIN THAT!
It’s sad to hear Mike is tired from blogging but it’s always easy to get bogged down with anything. As far as the type of blogging that people do, the type that that interests me the most are the essay type bloggers. Fate/Zero is really good and most (normal*) anime fans would agree with me that it’s one of the best things currently airing. Of course the prices on the boxset are going to be ridiculous because that’s a part of their marketing campaign. More publicity coverage=more $$$.
