The show kicks off with someone asking Erika out, and she turns him down. She runs into Kohei and he grabs a lady bug that was in her hair. Iori is watching as always. Back at the student council, Kohei is working while Iori goofs off and checks horoscope compatibility. He says Erika’s birthday is June 7th, which turns out to be that day. Kohei wants to celebrate, but Iori tells them they don’t since they don’t die. Iori makes an excuse for Kohei to go shopping. Everyone else is helping to clean the pool. Kohei and Erika are working out the pool opening event. Kohei gives Erika her present, and they are flowers. She says it is the first time someone did that for her and thanks him. Later that night Erika sets up the flowers, and her body suddenly is in pain. The next day the pool opens and they are holding a swimming competition. Kohei and Erika are overseeing the events. Erika made a lunch for both of them. They have a tag event, and the only ones left are Shiori and Kuze. Kohei and Erika clean up afterward, and end up getting their swimming in when done. She helps him out of the water and she slips. He ends up catching her and they almost kiss. Suddenly her body has the reaction from before, and she runs off. In her room she begins yearning for blood, and happens to knock over the flowers.
I was expecting another episode like the past few, where nothing really happens outside of normal interactions. Thankfully we see some progression with the whole vampire plot when Erika’s blood lust starts to kick in. It seems to deal with Kohei, but not enough information on it is given to know why.
Sanada argues with his dad and is greeted at the bus stop by a half dead looking Hotori. Hotori explains she continues to be late, but we find out she is sleepy due to reading a book all night. She falls asleep and rests her head on his shoulder, and he freaks out. Right away it is their bus stop, and he decides to not get off. They end up at the end of the line. Hotori talks a bit, but Sanada is really nervous. He suggests they take the day off, and Hotori agrees. They check out the town they ended up in. She grabs his hand and he freaks out again. They walk around town together and he is in bliss. They find a river and eat lunch by it. They head back home once it is sundown. Takeru can’t sleep and he goes to Hotori’s room, scaring the hell out of her. They end up going for a walk to help work off some energy. They end up at Sanada’s house. Using a sling shot to get Sanada’s attention, Hotori actually hits him with a shot as he opens his window. He comes out with a bat and is raging, so they hide. They stop by a ramen stand. The cop ends up being there, and Hotori hides behind the stand from him. Next they stop buy a convenience store, and it hits midnight and becomes May 1st. Takeru freaks out a bit at that revelation, as it is the first time he has been up that late. Once home, they a quick bath before going to bed.
The episode was so damn funny. Sanada’s reactions to Hotori having her head on his shoulder, or just grabbing his hand, were laugh out loud funny. And the part where she went walking with her brother was a riot. I loved the Lupin reference that she made while the cop was yelling for her. I can’t get enough of the humor in this show.
Part 1 – Focus your tentacles on her!
As Nagisa is getting off work and Eiko invites her over for a welcoming party. As she enters the room, Squid Girl gives her a scare. Takeru says Squid Girl is here to help prepare. Squid manages to keep messing with her mind. Nagisa asks to stay over so she can protect them. Squid Girl wakes up and Nagisa thinks she is planning an attack, but instead begins playing a videogame. Nagisa thinks she is Squid Girls target, so she pretends to act unafraid. Squid Girl is hurt by this. Eiko talks to Squid Girl and helps console her. When trying to shake hands, Nagisa freaks out again.
Cindy is trying to take Squid Girl away again. After getting away, Takeru shows up to play. She wants to be treated as Squid Queen. She wants Goro’s seat and when he declines, she threatens to tell that he has secret photos of Chizuru. Cindy helps Squid Girl apprehend Eiko, and then she tickles her with her tentacles. Cindy makes her hold her promise to come to her lab. They start trying to do tests, but Squid Girl gets scared. Cindy’s fellow scientists trick her in to saying she is an alien.
Part 3 – A squiddle work never killed anyone!
Chizuru, Eiko and Squid Girl are walking home when they see girl being hit on. They remember her from the other cafe. She starts working at their cafe, and it becomes packed. The girls father shows up as well, and explains she wears the costume to help her interact. He offers to let her keep working in exchange for Squid Girl. They agree, and squid girl is forced to stand there as a hostess. He then moves her inside to perform. Everyone starts looking at her, so she starts performing for them. At the end she is rocking out on the drums.
I laughed so loud due to this episode. Part 1 with Nagisa was great, and Squid Girl’s reaction when she thought Nagisa was no longer afraid, was so cute. Part 2 was funny when she was tickling Eiko, but I didn’t really find the other scientists that funny. Part 3 was the best one, and when Squid Girl was playing the drums, I couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Misaka realizes that none of the people used as a decoy were civilians. Awaki is in pain from teleporting herself, and Kuroko arrives. Kuroko defends Mikoto and her ideals. They begin battling, and when suddenly Kuroko can’t teleport, she gets crushed by furniture. While Awaki tells her story, one of the MISAKAs is preparing to leave the hospital. Little Misaka wants to help as well. Awaki is planning to see if non-humans can use Esper powers, which is why she will create a new tree diagram. Meanwhile Touma is dealing with Index, when MISAKA arrives and asks him to save everyone. Misaka realizes Kuroko is fighting, and Touma joins her as she heads there. Awaki asks Kuroko to join her, and she refuses. She tells Awaki that a power is only as good as the person using it. When she attacks, Awaki shoots her. Awaki freaks out and furniture circles her, and she states she will kill her. As the building is about to collapse on Kuroko, Misaka and Touma save her. Awaki is trying to figure out what is next when Accelerator arrives. He attacks and punches her right into a nearby building. Touma is sitting there with a slap mark on his face. He explains that to Index, and we see little MISAKA giving a report to Accelerator.
Excellent episode with a bunch of action. The fights were great to watch. We also learned a good deal about Awaki and what she was planning. I also really enjoyed seeing more of MISAKA and Accelerator. Nice to see the whole gang is still around.

Another excellent Squidgirl episode! I loved parts 1 and 3 the best. It’s always fun to watch the interactions between Nagisa and Squidgirl. And her reactions and facial expressions in Part 3 were hilarious and adorable
LOL@ Accelerator’s Falcon Punch and of course the interaction with him and Last Order (the little Misaka). I really like the Accelerator arc because he is a powerful and evil dude now reevaluating his life.
I must of fell out my chair too with the 3rd part of Squidgirl and the drums.
